The “Buñuelos” of Madrid

Happy day of All Saints! It is November 1, a holiday in Madrid, many are resting, others are traveling and some will go out into the city looking for something to do, we suggest you try the famous Buñuelos of Madrid, typical of this time and with a great tradition.

Considered the most typical sweet of All Saints’ Day, the buñuelos better known as “buñuelos de viento” (being stuffed) are stuffed and fried balls that are made with wheat, butter and egg. There are many flavors, but the most classic are cream, sweet potato, angel hair.

In recent years, pastry chefs have been testing and innovating new flavors, including buñuelos and limoncello or even “dulce de leche”.

 

Such is the popularity of buñuelos, which are one of the most demanded sweets in Madrid along with churros or even the Roscón de Reyes.. From October to November, up to 200,000 kilos of fritters are made to meet the high demand of the city.

In Madrid, almost all cafes and pastry shops sell them, however, there are places that stand out for their flavor and enormous tradition. We leave you the list below:

  3. Old Pastelería del Pozo located at Calle Pozo, 8, and Founded in 1830, it has a wide variety of fritters that range from the traditional flavors of cream, angel hair to filled with coffee, sweet potato or chantilly
